Learn To Teach Meditation

This training is SOLD OUT. An intensive version of this program will run from 3-14 November 2017 in South India and 9-14 January 2018 in Sydney.

This exciting course will teach you how to facilitate meditation classes and workshops in many different settings. Grounded in the traditional meditation techniques of classical yoga, you will not only learn a variety of effective meditation techniques, you will also learn valuable evidence-based yoga skills to support the practice of meditation, including simple breathing and movements.  Over six sessions of face to face training plus home study tasks, you will learn to confidently share meditation with your clients, family and students. 

The Meditation Facilitator Certificate training includes: 


  • How to teach a variety of meditation techniques including mindfulness, japa (mantra), walking and metta (loving kindness) meditation.
  • The philosophy of meditation
  • How to prepare for an effective meditation practice
  • Movement and breathing techniques to support mediation practice
  • How to create meditation courses, classes and workshops


Each of the six weekly sessions runs for 4hrs and contains both theory and practical elements. Participants will also be required to undertake 16hrs of self study, including reading, course work and assessments.

Meditation Facilitator Certificate Curriculum: 

The Philosophy of Meditation

We start with a fascinating introduction to the philosophy of meditation. We will explore the practice of meditation through the lens of classical texts such as Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita to gain a broad insight into the practice, purpose and experience of meditation.



Eastern Traditions-Western Mind

We will examine the philosophical underpinnings of meditation through an exploration of East-West psychology. Why did Eastern psychology give rise to the rich traditions of meditation and how is it different to the western approach to mental health? How do we integrate our understanding of both eastern and western psychology?



The Nature of the Mind

What is the mind? What does it do and what are it's functions? Discover the classical yoga perspective on the nature of the mind itself. 




What is mindfulness, what is the best way to prepare for an effective practice and how can we take mindfulness off the mat and into daily life? Prepare to explore the many benefits of mindfulness and learn how to integrate it into everyday life.



Body & Mind

How are the body and mind connected? How does the body influence the mind and vice versa? Can we even separate the two? Drawing on ancient traditions and modern neuroscience, we will be exploring how to integrate both body and mind in our meditation practice.



Energy Flow

Discover meditation in the context of the human energetic system. We will learn about the yoga concepts of Prana (life force energy), Nadis (energy channels) and Chakras (physical energy centres). You'll learn how to harness and channel energy in ways that prepare for and enhance the experience of meditation.



Breath and Meditation

Learn about the role of breathing in mental health and explore the links between the breath and meditation. This part of the course includes training in key yoga breathing techniques (Pranayama).



Relaxation and Meditation

Relaxation plays a crucial role in the preparation for and practice of meditation. We will be exploring relaxation techniques that prepare for and enhance meditation, including Yoga Nidra/iRest, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided relaxation.

Structuring Meditation Courses, Classes and Workshops

Learn how to create meditation trainings that flow seamlessly, offering your students a rich experience of personal re-integration. You’ll learn how to prepare, plan and deliver courses of different lengths and workshops that meet your students’ needs. 




This course is open to anybody with a minimum of 3 months personal practice of meditation. This course is suitable for practitioners of all styles of meditation.

Professional Development & CPD Points

This course counts for 18 core contact hours and 18 non-contact hours of Continued Professional Development with Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance for certified yoga teachers.

Nikola Ellis

Founder and Principal Teacher at Adore Yoga, Nikola Ellis (C-IAYT, AAYT, ERYT) has been immersed in yoga and meditation for over 20 years. She has studied with leading international teachers in Europe, India and Australia and holds a Masters degree in counselling and psychotherapy. 

Other senior teachers will also contribute to this course.
