Workshop Description

Yoga Therapy for Anxiety, Depression and Panic Disorders


Yoga can be a powerful tool for helping students manage their recovery from anxiety, depression and panic disorders. In this 2 day intensive training, you will learn:


  • The theory and practice of Yoga Therapy for anxiety, depression and panic disorders
  • How yoga can support students to manage their symptoms
  • Techniques for preventing and reducing symptoms
  • Practices for emotional regulation and personal re-integration


This program will give you the confidence and practical skills to help students to become pro-active in their recovery from the debilitating effects of depression, anxiety and panic disorders.
 

You will be learning a gentle, yet powerful, approach to yoga that differs significantly from the way yoga is often taught in group public classes. Key features include:


  • Breath-centred practices for managing the physical, emotional and psychological symptoms of anxiety and depression.

  • Experiential - You will practice teaching in a way that emphasises how the practice feels for each individual student, rather than focusing on alignment.

  • Student-centred - You will discover how to teach in a way that gives your students the freedom decide how (and if) they approach the practice.


There is significant evidence that Yoga Therapy can help people recovering from depression and anxiety, reducing distressing symptoms and improve their wellbeing. 


This training is designed to introduce yoga teachers and mental health professionals to the fundamental principles of using yoga to support people experiencing mental health issues. The techniques you will learn are evidence based and the facilitators are senior yoga teachers who also have recognised qualifications in mental health and extensive experience working with people in a clinical setting.


Meet the Teacher



Dr Lauren Tober is a Clinical Psychologist, Life Coach and Yoga Teacher based in Byron Bay and Mullumbimby, Australia.  With a passion for health, healing, happiness and awakening Lauren integrates the best of western psychology with ancient yogic wisdom, both on and off the mat.

Should you cancel your booking more than four weeks prior to start date, 50% of whatever portion of the balance has been paid  (not including non-refundable deposit) will be given.
